How to Use Shop Pay Installments to Finance Your Turbo Lifts Equipment

Buying high-quality automotive equipment is a big decision. We offer Shop Pay Installments (powered by Affirm) to help you spread the cost into manageable payments — securely and right at checkout. Below is a step-by-step guide so you know exactly what to expect.

Step 1 — Add Items to Your Cart

Choose the lift, paint booth, or accessory you want and add it to your cart. Shop Pay Installments is available for eligible orders between $50 and $20,000. When you're ready, click Checkout.

Step 2 — Choose Shop Pay at Checkout

On the payment screen select the Shop Pay button (Under "Payments" section on first page of checkout"). You'll see a message such as “Pay in full or in installments". Once shop pay installments are selected, click pay now. 

*You should not have entered a credit / debit card up to this point.*

Important note about the first payment screen

When you click the Shop Pay / Shop Pay Installments button you may see an initial screen with two options: “Pay now” or “Pay in installments.” Select the option you want and follow the prompts. Some customers expect to enter credit card information immediately — but this depends on whether you already have a Shop Pay account and whether Affirm needs to verify payment details.

Step 3 — Choose “Pay in Installments” and Continue

After selecting Shop Pay, choose Pay in Installments (instead of Pay in Full). Then click Continue to Payment Plans (or similar) to let Affirm check your eligibility. This happens instantly and is typically a soft credit inquiry that does not affect your credit score.

Accurate and important explanation (please read):

• If you are already logged in to Shop Pay and have a saved payment method, you usually do not need to re-enter a credit/debit card on this screen — the checkout can use your saved Shop Pay payment method and then show installment options.
• If you are not logged into Shop Pay or are creating a Shop Pay account for the first time, you will be asked to enter a valid debit or credit card. This card is used to verify your identity and to process the first and subsequent installment payments if you select a financing plan. This is standard — your card is not charged in full at that moment (only the first payment is taken once you confirm a loan plan).

Step 4 — Review Available Payment Plans

Affirm will display the payment plan options you qualify for. Typical options include:

• 4 biweekly payments (interest-free for many customers)
• Monthly payments for 3, 6, 12, or more months (rates and availability depend on purchase amount and approval)

Each plan clearly shows: the payment amounts, the total paid over time, the APR (if any), and the schedule of due dates. Read these carefully and choose the plan that fits your budget.

Step 5 — Confirm & Complete Your Purchase

Once you select a plan and confirm, Affirm charges the first payment immediately to the card you provided (or the saved card on your Shop Pay account). The remaining payments are charged automatically on the scheduled dates. After confirmation, you will receive:

• A normal Shopify order confirmation email from Turbo Lifts
• An email from Shop Pay / Affirm with your installment schedule and customer portal details

Step 6 — Manage Your Payments

You can log in to your Shop Pay account or visit your Affirm account to see payment dates, update payment methods, or pay off your balance early. Affirm also sends reminders before upcoming payments.

FAQs & Troubleshooting

Q: Why did the checkout ask me for a credit/debit card?
A: If you’re creating a Shop Pay account or Affirm needs to verify your payment method, the system will ask for a valid card. This is used to process your scheduled installment payments — it is normal and secure.

Q: I clicked Shop Pay Installments but still see “Pay now” — what should I do?
A: If you see both options, choose Pay in Installments and continue to the payment plans screen. If you accidentally select “Pay now,” you can go back and choose installments instead.

Q: Will entering my card here charge me for the whole order?
A: No. Entering your card to set up Shop Pay or Affirm does not immediately charge the full amount. When you confirm a financing plan, the first installment is charged at checkout and the remaining installments are charged on schedule.

Q: Is Shop Pay / Affirm secure?
A: Yes. Shop Pay and Affirm are trusted payment providers used by millions of customers and merchants. Payment data is encrypted and stored securely.
